NEW - CALIFORNIA YOUTH PROTECTION LAW (AB-506)
For ALL Coaches
(Head Coach and ALL Asst. Coaches)  - California has a new state law requiring youth league volunteers to get a fingerprint-based Live Scan background check.  Additionally, AB-506 also requires volunteers to complete a Child Abuse Mandated Reporter Training online course.  The volunteers affected by this law will include all coaches and managers in Menifee Pony.  Team Moms will not be affected by this law as long as they're not also coaching.  Bill Text - AB-506 (section 1, chapter 209) Youth service organizations: child abuse and neglect prevention. (ca.gov).
If you have been live scanned for Menifee Pony in the past, you do not need to do so again as long as you stay in the league, not being out for more than two years.

Menifee Pony will give all 'official' Asst. Coaches who completed and passed the Live Scan a single-use
$10 discount code towards a future registration within the next year (two seasons).  NOTE: 'Official Asst Coaches' are the up-to-three coaches the Manager (Head Coach) assigns to the team. Managers can have more than three assistant coaches if needed, but unfortunately the league can only offer the discount codes for up to the three per team at this time.  Also at this time, we're only offering the discount code to the asst. coaches and not Managers, since Managers are already offered the much more valuable Manager Rebate.

A Breakdown of the MPB VOLUNTEER/BADGE PROCESS

THERE WILL BE THREE DIFFERENT COLORED & LEVELS OF BADGES.

1-Board Member. 2-Coach/Manager. 3-Team Parent.

ALL MUST COMPLETE THE VOLUNTEER FORM ON THEIR ACCOUNT PAGE

TO BE VERIFIED/PASSED FOR A MANAGER/COACH BADGE ('Asst Coach', etc):
  1. They must be on the 'Team List' that the managers submitted

2. They must be on the 'LiveScan Passed' list that comes from DOJ after they've done their Live Scan

3. They must have uploaded all three of the DL, the Concussion Cert and the Court Reporter Cert

4. They must have passed the National Sex Offender Registry (what DL is used for, and it's free)

TO BE VERIFIED/PASSED ON THE WEBSITE FOR A TEAM PARENT BADGE:

1. They must be on the 'Team List' that the managers submitted

2. They must have uploaded the DL

3. They must have passed the National Sex Offender Registry (what DL is used for, and it's free)

TEAM PARENTS can sit in the dugout (no more than ONE at a time) all game in Filly & Shetland. For older divisions, they can assist as needed, but they cannot stay in the dugout unless they are a coach with a coach badge. To do so without the Live Scan Coache badge would put them over the LEGAL requirement, so we do not allow it.
TEAM PARENTS cannot help coach. To help coach, they must get Live Scanned (and the certs) to get that badge.

MINORS (who are volunteering) - Under 16 does not need badge.  16-17 year olds do need badge, just add as Volunteer to parents account, and upload school ID uploaded.

BADGES REQUIRED to be in dugout or on field during ALL GAMES.
Badges not required for practices, BUT the manager is responsible to know that ONLY MPB APPROVED VOLUNTEERS are helping in those practices. This is simple for the managers, it's just the same people helping him/her in the games.
